1.Excitation Circuit Problems:
Cause: Exciter Circuit of alternator may be faulty. This circuit creates manyetic field of the alternator.
Solution: Ensure to check excitation circuit and its components. If its faulty, repair the circuit or replace components.
2.Brush and Slip Ring Problems:
Cause: Brush and slip ring may be worn or dirty. That may prevent electric current passing between the rotor and stator
Solution: Ensure to clean Brush and slip ring or to replace ıf necessary.
3.Diot Bridge or Regulator Failure:
Cause: It may faulty diot bridge and voltage regulator inside the alternator.
Solution: Ensure to test Diod bridge and regulator. Replace faulty compenants.
4.Damage of Stator or Rotor Windings:
Cause: May damage such as short circuıt, open circuit, burning at the stator or rotor windings.
Solution: Ensure to check the windings with the multimeter. If it has damage rewrap or replace the windings.
5.Wiring and Connection Problems:
Cause: There may looseness and disconnection output cables and connections of the alternator.
Solution: Ensure to check all these cables and connections. Tighten any loose connections and replace any broken wires.
6.Phase Shift and Imbalance:
Cause: It may be phase shift and imbalance with 3 phase alternators.
Solution: Ensure to measure phase voltage and current. If there is an imbalance check and repair the phases.
7.Protection Relay or Fuse:
Cause: The relays or fuses protecting the alternator may have broken the circuit.
Solution: Ensure to check protection relay and fuses. Replace or readjust faulty ones.
By performing these checks, you can determine why the alternator is not producing electricity. If the problem persists, it is recommended that you seek help from a professional technician.
