There are several common reasons why engines, one of the main parts of a generator, emit black smoke:
- Combustion Problems: In engines, incomplete combustion of fuel leads to the formation of black smoke. This is usually caused by an imbalance in the air-fuel mixture. Excess fuel is released through the exhaust without burning, creating black smoke.
- Air Filter Clogging: When air filter is clogged, not enough air cannot get into the engine. This situation can cause inefficient combustion and make the black smoke.
- Fuel Injectors Problems: When fuel injectors are not working properly, excessive or unbalanced fuel can spreyed into the cylinders. This leads to the formation of black smoke.
- Turbocharge Problems: In turbocharged engines, if the turbocharger fails or does not work properly, the air-fuel mixture may become unbalanced and black smoke may occur.
- Engine Oil Leak: When Engine Oil leak into the combustions chamber, may cause oil to burn and black smoke to occur
If generator is blowing black smoke, one or more of these reasons should be checked and repaired if necessary.
